TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - The Seaman School District is hoping to fill at least 10 bus driver positions before school starts. The district is throwing a transportation job fair Wednesday morning from 9 am to 12 pm in the Seaman High School parking lot.
During the fair people will get a chance to apply for a job, interview and test drive one of the school buses. Transportation Director Ronna Blocker believes this will ease some people's anxiety about the size of the buses.
"When I received my license several years ago that was my biggest barrier was the size of the bus but it's actually easier to drive than your car at times," said Blocker.
The position includes 40 hours of paid safety training, including classroom and driving work. Blocker says the training generally takes two to three weeks.
The district hopes to have the positions filled, and training complete, before school starts August 16.
